Check your own measurements

An 11 × 12 ft bedroom has 132 square feet. A King fits with walkways on both sides as long as the headboard is on one of the 12 ft walls, and a Queen fits with room to spare.

Walkways on both sides

With 24 inches on each side and at the foot, plus one 20 inch nightstand: Twin fits with 33 inches to spare; Twin XL fits with 28 inches to spare; Full fits with 22 inches to spare; Queen fits with 16 inches to spare; King fits exactly, with no inch to spare; California King fits with 4 inches to spare. As in a 10 × 12 room, a King's across measurement is exactly 144 inches, so the 12 ft wall has to take the headboard; the extra foot compared with a 10 × 12 room goes to the space at the foot of the bed.

One side against a wall

With one long side against a wall, a 24 inch walkway on the other side and at the foot, and no nightstand: Twin fits with 45 inches to spare; Twin XL fits with 40 inches to spare; Full fits with 45 inches to spare; Queen fits with 40 inches to spare; King fits with 32 inches to spare; California King fits with 36 inches to spare. Against a wall every size has at least 32 inches spare, enough for a dresser or desk at the foot or along the open side.

What these results assume

The results use nominal mattress sizes, not frames. A frame, headboard or footboard adds length and width, so enter the frame's outside dimensions in the room calculator if you have them. The room is treated as a clear rectangle: doors, closets, windows and radiators are not modelled, so measure those separately. The 24 inch walkways follow the calculator's default and can be changed there.

For this room

The choice between a Queen and a King comes down to the headboard wall: if the 12 ft walls have a door or a window where the bed would go, the King no longer fits with two walkways, while a Queen with its headboard on an 11 ft wall still fits, with 4 inches to spare.
