MEASURE · COMPARE · MAKE SPACE

Which bed fits your room?

Add your room measurements and the walking space you want.

How to measure your room and bed frame

Room: Measure the clear inside width and length between the room boundaries, allowing for baseboards. Keep these width and length labels when reading the diagram.

Bed frame: Measure its widest and longest outside edges, including the headboard, footboard and overhangs. Choose “Measured bed frame” to enter them; mattress presets exclude the frame.

Check separately: Doors and their swing, fixed cabinets, radiators and irregular walls are outside this rectangular model. Do not represent a local obstacle by simply subtracting it from one room dimension. Check the actual layout and allow for measurement uncertainty.

Side and foot clearances are your adjustable preferences. The initial 24 in values are not building-code or accessibility requirements.

Room and bed dimensions
1

Your room

Room width and length are in feet; add the remaining inches.

2

Footprint to check

Presets use example mattress dimensions. Choose a measured frame to include its outside edges.

3

Space around the bed

Depth is front to back. Leave it blank to use the current width as depth, making a square footprint. With two nightstands, both use these dimensions.

Depth left blank: the calculation uses square nightstands.

Clearance is your preference; doors and fixed cabinets need separate checks. A geometric fit does not guarantee a usable room.

What the result includes

Add your room measurements and the walking space you want. The calculator checks both orientations.

The bed’s head is placed against a wall. Space across the bed includes the bed, nightstands and clearances on the open sides. Head-to-foot space uses the larger of bed length and nightstand depth, then adds foot clearance. Both orientations are compared; required room width and length follow the selected orientation. A fit describes this geometry; measure obstructions and the actual frame separately.
